The Fun-Seeker:

Shadow Thought: “My enjoyment of life sometimes interferes with my responsibilities, but life is meant to be experienced.”

Fictional Character Type 7 Examples: Marty McFly, Christopher Robin, Peter Pan, and the Weasley Twins.

Of all the complaints that come from the Enneagram types, the biggest one is “I’m not a party animal all the time” from Type 7s. This type really just enjoys life to the fullest but can take it to extremes. Type 7s needs to make sure they aren’t using their fun as a distraction from the stresses of life. As we see from the fictional character examples, these types are really just kids at heart. Type 7s suffer the most from FOMO (fear of missing out) and struggle to finish tasks if something more fun comes along. This fear is what drives their fun-seeking nature. Life is full of infinite opportunities and type 7s want to experience as much of those as they can. They often make it a point to seek out positive experiences and tend to try and ignore the negative ones. They tend to be viewed as flighty and irresponsible. But they really just think life should be enjoyed and tend to look at the bright side more than the other types. They could also be known as the eternal optimist.

Too often we confuse behaviors with the motivations behind them leaving us in the shadows. Enneagram coaching can help!
