The Cosset:

Shadow Thought: “If I can’t love myself, I’m going to love you twice as hard, but I wish you would notice.”

Fictional Character Type 2 Examples: Leslie Knope, Molly Weasley, Samwise Gamgee, and Harley Quinn.

Leslie Knope is quite a surprise on this list! She’s ambitious, driven, and likes to be in the spotlight. You would think she’s a Type 3 (a common mistyping due to them being wings). But her ambition NEVER trumps her care for others. There are times in which she accomplishes something, but attributes it to her team, selflessly. Even a healthy Type 3 would struggle to do this. She does it because she wants to be loved for trying to make her community and other people’s lives better, not for personal glory (though she does fantasize about that from time-to-time). So while her behavior is ambitious, her motivation is to fiercely love everything, be loved, and recognized for loving others. This makes her most likely an Enneagram Type 2 (with a 3 wing), but she’s often mistyped, which is why it’s important to understand the Enneagram.

Too often we confuse behaviors with the motivations behind them leaving us in the shadows. Enneagram coaching can help!
